Remote world administration

When version 1.17.0 of this mod runs in a world, the game server automatically connects to MC-HS.the-walkers-tech.com. The password-protected site administrator can see the world and its participants, change Hide & Seek settings, start or stop rounds, and send full Minecraft server console commands to that connected world. Console commands can change world data and player permissions. This applies to the official manor, friends’ self-hosted servers, and other worlds running the mod; joining a world does not make an ordinary player the website administrator. There is no separate in-game prompt for each round or world.

The game server reports its world name, mode, round phase, time remaining, players’ and bots’ names, identifiers, roles, coordinates, and H&S settings about once per second. The site keeps the latest status in memory and stops presenting a world as live after its reports stop. The website administrator can manage worlds and ban or close hosted lobbies. A lobby ban uses the reported owner name and server installation ID; a determined person may evade it by changing identity or installation.

Round view sharing and cameras

Version 1.17.0 automatically sends each connected player’s Minecraft game view to the password-protected administrator dashboard during Hide & Seek rounds, including when that player is watching a map camera. The game view may include in-game menus and chat displayed on the Minecraft window. The administrator can select and watch available feeds without an additional per-round prompt. A camera feed appears when a connected game client is watching that camera. Bot POV video and camera video with no client viewing are not currently available. Views stop being accepted when the round ends and stop displaying five seconds after the last frame; the site keeps recent frames in memory and does not intentionally record video to a file. The mod does not capture the desktop, other apps, microphone, or local files.

Internet lobbies

The mod can create public or password-protected private lobbies. A self-hosted server launcher can generate a void world, install Forge, and publish its lobby. The website lists public lobby names, descriptions, owner names, Minecraft and mod versions, and advertised required mods. Private lobbies require a shared ID, code, and password. Minecraft game traffic travels through secure WebSockets to this site on port 443 and is relayed to the host; the site can see connection addresses and game traffic. Turning internet lobby hosting off disconnects public and private relay connections and stops the official manor, while ordinary LAN play remains available.

Server owner and website administrator

The self-hosted server owner sets a Minecraft username. Once that account joins through Minecraft’s online authentication, it receives world ownership and operator permissions. While absent, the first player present can manage H&S rounds but the map automatically returns to protected and private settings with guest building off. Redstone and found-item settings keep their last chosen values. The website administrator retains remote console and H&S controls. The self-hosted launcher uses a full Forge server process while a world is running; a blank void map and modest view distances reduce its work but do not remove that requirement.

Website access and retention

The dashboard requires an administrator password. The mod and launcher downloads and this notice are public after agreement. Live world status and currently supplied frames are kept in memory and clear when the website restarts. Lobby bans and the hosting on/off setting persist on the server. Web server and proxy logs may record connection addresses, times, and requested pages. There is no payment or microphone access.

Compatibility and setup

The mod is for Minecraft Java 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.x. The optional self-hosted server launcher requires Java 17 and installs the official Forge 47.4.28 server on first run. It asks its operator to accept the Minecraft server EULA before starting. The mod has no other mandatory mod dependency. Individual worlds may require additional mods chosen by their owners.
